May 8th, 2009 for the European-wide week for Small and Medium Businesses announced by the European Commission (6-14 May), the Design Center Bologna organizes "Design and PMI. To design for Small and Medium Businesses."
Meetings and workshops will focus on demonstrating how design, meant to be the methodology for the individualization and resolution of problems, can represent a strategic lever for the development and innovation of the process, even before that of the product, for small and medium businesses.

First Session - Design Center and SMEs
May 8, 2009 – at 10.00 - 11.30
In the course of the first meeting, various directors of different European Design Centers will interact and discuss these topics.
The directors will be called to present their experiences and most pertinent case histories of those centers that, like the Design Center Bologna, focus their activity in European regions that are tied to the development of small and medium businesses. The directors of the European design centers will also present some significant case histories from their relations with PMI, making evident the value added to their practices and, more generally, similarities between the different experiences.

Second session - Europe and SMEs

Workshop
May 8, 2009 – at 15.00 - 19.00
The afternoon will be dedicated to the development of a workshop which, through the involvement of groups of students, designers and various representatives of design centers, will exemplify the correct approach to the development of a good strategy for innovation.
These workshops will be developed in collaboration with small and medium enterprises from the Emilia-Romagna region that, after the development of a brief, will see the study of innovative and competitive solutions for the firms examined across the different responsibilities of the field.
